It is around this time of year when things go silent and you wonder if all your political activism has been worth it.
However while the New Year Blues grind us all to a stop as we consider the year ahead it is also the perfect time to redouble our efforts and push on to a victory or success that might be just a short distance away. When it seems darkest and the temptation is to give up is often when the thing we seek is close at hand.
That is the theory anyway. But theory is no good without some practical application. The practical that I am going to suggest involves blogging in the political sphere but could be applied to blogging generally.
Right now we are in the grips of some serious January Humbug otherwise known as the New Year Blues. It is now when no one is singing the song of their cause, when everyone is looking for some leadership that you or I can step up to the plat and offer just that.
What am I saying?
Now is the time to redouble our efforts and to get the message out there. Do it now, do it everywhere and do it lots.
With a blogging now is the time when most blogs die only to start from scratch in the summer when the world seems full of life. However the number of readers is on the rise during the winter months as we sit at home rather then jet off for the evening garden party (or whatever it is you do in the hot part of the year).
It is an ideal time to push new boundaries to get your message, your face and your blog “out there”.
One way to do this is to submit articles to
buzz42 and to group blogs and anywhere else that will take your offerings.
These articles can be direct reprints of your best work this month or summaries of the weeks news from your blog. They could be fresh items or items that you never published because they didn't fit.
Perhaps you want to write about SEO but have only a Right/Left wing blog. That's what these open blogs are for. It's your style then that sells your message.
But you can not start submitting your content to other blogs until you are also submitting your content to your own – all of them.
(yes I am digging a little about some of the blogs I belong to but as I am just as bad...)
My point remains that in terms of speaking up now is the time to take the lead. Now is the time to set yourself as the blogger that leads in 2007.
Go lead the world.
This post may well be psoted at more than one blog.

This is a promotion idea that you can use.
Write something about which you know. You know about your blog so write about that. Then use it to promote the blog.
This form of self promotion is very easy (as you will see) and can be done by anyone able to write a blog.
It is that easy!
Usually you open with a headline although many people like to write that last. The headline is usually the site title and a short description. For example "Buzz42 News Shout - shouting your news to the world". Note that punctuation (other than the dash that devides the title and descriptive) does not exist in the headline. The only exception would be apostraphy and quotes. So no dot-dot-dot and no overkill with the exclimation point!!! (like that).
Now moving down the page we have the opening paragraph. This too is often left untill the end. Just jot something down to start with then come back to it later.
This introduces the blog in the same detail but in more words than the title.
He is an example.
"Buzz42 News Shout is a blog (column in old money) that carries the news that you have written in the way it was written."
Now you can expand on your topic. Give your self two to three short sentences to a paragraph and three paragraphs to cover the basics.
Here is an example:
"Baring minor edits for style, spelling and the like editors generally do not touch aproved news items and so whatever you write we publish. Of course, there is a process of approval to weed out those unwanted adverts for body modifications which also serves to ensure that we don't publish too much to read all at once."
That paragraph tells you quite a lot. It introduces limits up front and says that buzz42 is not a free for all. I always recomend this level of honesty as it leaves no nasty supprises for the reader. (and they don't wonder "what's the catch?").
Paragaph two can now address content and aim of the site.
"Buzz42 News Shout is a news and views portal telling the news the way you see it. As such it can be opinionated and political. This is good as we get to see points of view that the mainstream media might want to hide from us - your point of view."
Notice that I have introduced little more by way of new information but have expanded on the title topic. I have also reitterated my main points and key phrases. Every other paragraph can open with the sites title as it is the topic. This also serves to fix the title in the mind of the reader.
Now for my third paragraph I can open the topic subject up and raise interest further.
"Not only can you submit and see published your views of the news - you can report it too. The news as it is important to you. This includes things you do for work or fun such as your blog (think blog press release), your charitable work or simply the release of the latest version of your favourate 3D drawing program.
"Buzz42 News Shout is an ideal place to file a well written press release about what you have been doing. Of course, you should try to make it as interesting as possible by telling us why you find it interesting. We should also admit that there is a limit to the number of announcments about cat blogs in a given day other people will enjoy so try to time your release to stand out. This is as much for your own benifit as ours."
OK I cheated and wrote two paragraphs. That is the best thing about a blog press release it is flexable and you can write as many paragraphs as you need to get the most interesting and jucy facts out to the world.
After the title, introduction and body you need a final paragraph. This covers the same ground as the introduction but reminds the reader about all the other paragraphs. the less words you can do this in the better the impact.
An example:
"So Buzz42 News Shout is your news, your press releases and your life written large. It's political commentry, blog gossip and local news shouted out the way you want to see it written. Shape your world."
As is good practice end with a call to action. The call to action in the example is unfocused which suited the aims of the example.
"Shape your world" - three words that now mean all that Buzz42 News Shout is and can be but dynamic in action.
Once written you need to publish you release. There are sites (google it) that are jsut for posting releases. But for many blog related topics why not file a release at Buzz42 News Shout and see it pubished at http://news.buzz42.com - just visit
the submit page.
